Obsessive Compulsive Film Viewing (Dis)order. Taking Laura Mulvey's discussion of the death of cinema as your point of departure, conduct the following experiment and exercise. The document you will email will have two parts, notes and essay. the first part, notes, will be taken on each of the following steps.

1. Pick a film we have watched this semester other than Touch of Evil and watch it again, this time taking extensive notes. You may pause the remote while you take notes. Pick a sequence or scene to analyse. The sequence of scene may have up to 12 shots.

PART ONE

Notes:

1. Watch the film again taking extensive notes.

2. Why did you pick this scene? What do you want to say about it?

3. Watch the scene.

Take notes. What do see? What are you watching?

4. Watch the scene again.

Take notes and this time pay attention to each shot (what kind it is, how long it is, etc). Take screen captures of each shot.

5. Watch the scene again.

Take notes. What do you notice this time around that you didn't? Does the scene make you thik about other parts of the film? Can you begin to make generalizatins about the film based on your analysis of this particular scene?

6. Watch the scene on fast forward.

Take notes

7. Wath the scene in slow motion

Take notes.

8. Watch the entire film again.

Take extensive notes on the film again and once more on the sequence or scene you selected.

PART TWO

1. Write an analytical, persuasive essay on the sequence you choose. 650 words maximum.
