Early on in the film, Orazio and his apprentice see Artemisia drawing outside through the grate on the window. Orazio later sees Artemisia half naked with Orazio in his studio through the grating.

In a later scene, Tassi sees Artemisia run from his studio through a grating and the camera moves through it.

In prison, the camera similarly moves through the grating. Tassi's words are repeated by Artemisia at the end of the film as she looks through the velo, though the camera does not move through the velo.
